I founded Apparent Legal Group, LLC when I identified a gap in traditional family and probate practice. A divorce, adoption, child custody, or probate case has ripple effects beyond the case itself. I believe in working with my clients to understand and prepare for these broader implications throughout their lives.
My parents divorced when I was four years old. I have seen firsthand how difficult divorce can be. I also know it doesn’t have to be and that difficult chapters are not the end of the story. Every legal challenge – whether a family transition or managing a loved one’s legacy – is one chapter in your larger story.
My commitment is to compassionately guide you through the challenging chapters, so you can get back to authoring a story to be proud of – one of resilience, joy, and love.
Whenever possible, I seek to find solutions and resolve conflict through fairness, candor, and collaboration. Simultaneously, I am prepared to take the steps necessary to protect your rights and your interests through litigation.
Before founding Apparent Legal Group, I served five years as a U.S. Army Judge Advocate and I went on to serve as a Senior Associate Attorney at a local family law firm before opening my own practice. I have taught family law courses at continuing legal education seminars.

About Juli Stephenson
Paralegal
Raised in the Southwest, and a New Mexican since 1978, Juli is the firm’s paralegal. Having moved to Las Cruces in 1999 after her own divorce, Juli raised her three children in Las Cruces as single mother while attending New Mexico State University. After earning her bachelor’s degrees in government and criminal justice, and while working on her master’s degree in criminal justice, she was hired by NMSU to teach as adjunct faculty. She held that position for five years before joining a family law firm as a paralegal in October 2006.
Since 2006, Juli worked in a broad range of legal areas, including domestic relations, adoption, estate planning, probate, criminal defense, guardianship and conservatorship, personal injury,
and contracts.
In her free time, Juli enjoys traveling to spend time with her children and grandchildren, as well as baking, cooking, reading, and gardening. Someday, she would like to retire and spend her time getting some stamps in her passport.
About Alliss Paz
Legal Assistant
As the firm’s Legal Assistant, Alliss provides administrative support and serves as the primary point of contact for clients navigating significant life events. Her professional background with the City of Las Cruces established a strong foundation in public service. As a legal assistant since 2023, she enjoys managing complex legal calendars, document preparation, and client communications with precision and care.
As the mother of a child with disabilities, Alliss brings genuine understanding to her role as client liaison. She recognizes the importance of clear communication, especially during challenging life circumstances, and takes pride in creating a welcoming environment where clients feel respected and valued.
Raised in the beautiful landscapes of New Mexico, she combines southwestern warmth with professional excellence in every interaction. When not in the office, Alliss cherishes time with family and embracing the scenery outdoors.
She is proud to serve as the Legal Assistant at Apparent Legal Group, LLC, providing the organizational foundation that supports the firm’s dedication to excellence in probate, estate planning, and family law.
